Up for your consideration is this original aluminum Canadian goose sculpture by renowned artist Hoselton of Canada, known for taking raw ingots of aluminum and through a complicated process of carving an image, making a mould, pouring the molten aluminum into the mould, allowing it to cool, then a long polishing process including many hand polishing steps, and ultimately completing each unique sculpture with a soft, lustrous, non tarnish finish. It is in excellent condition, with a few surface scratches. It is signed “Hoselton 925″ and still has the original sticker on it, which reads. One of the most attractive features of Hoselton’s sculptures is the ease of care. Merely wipe the sculpture with window cleaner, to bring out the luster and shine. There are a few scratches on the sculpture, the most prominent of which are on the bottom by the signature, and one on the edge of one of the goose’s wings and one beneath it. This lovely piece of art measures 7″ x 6″ x 6, and would make a wonderful accent to any room. After many fails, finally worked out how to get a great curation of the burrows below those little Crawfish chimneys that pop up in the yard and fields. This one (WT) had a nice feeding and chimney path. Water table was shallow so the burrow was partially filled and made for a nice compact sculpture. The Mound / Chimney is sealed to make it a lot less fragile. The arms are aluminum, cleaned up with most of the sharp and poorly formed areas worked out. Base and table top are painted and sealed. All elements are rough in nature and texture. As far as I searched- I’ve never seen a mound preserved, never seen a burrow preserved and never seen the combination mounted or displayed in any way. It may exist – but I’ve never seen one. Truly one of a kind. So far, only 8 of 30+ attempts have been successful- some explode! Surely a conversation piece for anyone that knows what a crawfish is.. Chimney and base will be. Screw driver to re-assemble.

Taught at Skowhegan in Maine with David Smith and others during the 1950’s. Major works in important institutions including The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Addison Gallery of American Art, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Chrysler Museum etc. Pattison was listed by Gallerist Edith Gregor Halpert and The Downtown Gallery in New York which represented other great American artists including John Marin, Stuart Davis, William and Marguerite Zorach, Georgia O’Keefe, Jacob Lawrence, Ben Shahn, Arthur Dove, and Charles Sheeler. This work dates from the heyday of American Scene painting and sculpture, before the popular rise of Abstract Expressionism and, later, Pop Art. A vintage Italian high-relief solid sterling silver plaque of a seaside village on the Amalfi Coast, with blue and gold detailing. The plaque is mounted on translucent glass that is set in an elegant frame. It features the artist’s signature as well as other distinguishing marks stamped into the lower edge of the plaque. Another great curation of the path below those little Crawfish chimneys that pop up in the yard and fields.
