Original Sterling Silver Sculpture “The Unfolding” by listed American Master Sculptor Abbott Lawrence Pattison b. Signature in metal A. Unique, original, work of art by an important American sculptor. Exhibition number #36 under masking tape on reverse which is also signed by The Artist. More photos available on request. Taught at Skowhegan in Maine with David Smith and others during the 1950’s. Major works in important institutions including The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Addison Gallery of American Art, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Chrysler Museum etc. Pattison was listed by Gallerist Edith Gregor Halpert and The Downtown Gallery in New York which represented other great American artists including John Marin, Stuart Davis, William and Marguerite Zorach, Georgia O’Keefe, Jacob Lawrence, Ben Shahn, Arthur Dove, and Charles Sheeler. This work dates from the heyday of American Scene painting and sculpture, before the popular rise of Abstract Expressionism and, later, Pop Art. This work has been authenticated by Abbott Pattison’s artist/painter son Harry Pattison. Approximately 5.25″ long, 4″ wide, and 1.5 tall not counting the marble base. Here to sell friends!
